* Description: For use with HP Spectrum Analyzers like the 8560A, 8561B, 8562A and 8562B, the HP Agilent 85640A is a 300 kHz to 2.9 GHz Tracking Generator. When paired with an HP spectrum analyzer, you have a system that offers both scalar and spectrum analysis capabilities. Use the scalar analysis capability to perform measurements such as gain, frequency response, compression, flatness, and return loss on components and sub systems. Use the spectrum analysis capability to measure harmonic and intermodulation distortion, as well as spurious products. A tracking generator, like the HP 85640A, when combined with a spectrum analyzer, allows measurements to be made with fast, continuous sweeps. The HP 85640A features a dynamic range higher than 115 dB and shares the synthesized frequency accuracy of the spectrum analyzer. This lets you quickly and accurately make real-time adjustments of devices and measure parameters such as filter rejection and switch isolation. In addition, the HP 85640A includes a manually controlled, built-in output attenuator and vernier, so you can vary the output level for measurements like gain compression. Other capabilities of the 85640A when combined with a spectrum analyzer include: antenna return-loss measurements to isolate problems and ability to check sub-system performance and FFT capability to locate faults in cables and interconnections.
