This is a brand new, electronic kilowatt-hour (kWh) meter, the smallest, most versatile, most advanced kWh meter of its type available on the market. EKM Metering, model EKM-15E, 2-wire, 50 amp, external current transformer (CT) version. The CT allows the meter to be easily mounted away from the wires, panel, or equipment. These were made specifically for metering one leg of our U.S. 3-wire 120/240 volt single phase (2 phase) current. They require nominal 120 volts for operation, and will operate correctly from 81 to 149 volts. Installation is quite straight-forward. However, installation should only be performed by a knowledgeable, qualified electrician. There are connections for 120 volts to power the meter, and connections for the included CT. The wire(s) to be metered are passed through the CT and re-connected. The meter can be mounted up to 6 feet from the CT-the CT has 80 inch-long connection wires. The easiest way to mount the meter is to clip it to a DIN-rail with the built-in clip-on system. Multiple meters can be mounted easily on one DIN-rail. Installation and instruction manual included. Dimensions are approx. 0.75"w x 2.5"h x 4.5".
The meters have a non-resetable 5 digit LCD readout with hundredths, and read directly in kWh, no conversion factors as with some other electronic meters. They also have a built-in PULSE OUTPUT, 1000 pulses per kWh, so they are perfect for remote and automatic meter reading (AMR) applications.
