Replaces large, heavy, expensive transformers in audio amplifier supplies. ( and associated large, heavy, expensive electrolytic cpacitors, with their deplorable 5000 hour lifetimes ). Makes possible slim, sleek, lightweight homebrew amplifiers, with less rugged enclosure requirements.
Can be used to power chip amps (LM3875, LM3886, LM4780) since these parts' absolute maximum ratings allow supply voltages of up to 94V (+/- 47V).
Instructions are also be provided for dual linear post-regulators, to lower the supply rails to as low as +/- 30Volts (free of charge).
