This is a Farm Duty Motor, High Starting Torque motor, Class F Insulation, Double Sealed Ball Bearings, Corrosion Resistant parts. Wiring diagram is on the motor name plate.
If you are looking for a 1½ HP, heavy duty motor designed for high starting torque, this motor will do the job. Leeson Electric Motors are well known for their high quality Farm Duty Motors. This motor can be used in any application, not just farm applications.
If you need to replace a 3-phase 1½ hp electric motor with a single phase motor, that is a 56 frame, this motor will do the job. It would be an exact frame and shaft match.
56 and 56H are the same thing, only difference is that the 56H frame has 6 mounting holes in base.
Tip: A Totally Enclosed Fan Cooled (TEFC) motor is great for motors located in a dusty, dirty environment. Unlike an Open Drip Proof motor that sucks the dirt, saw dust, oil, paint and other contaminates into the motor and gets into the internal start switch and the motor windings, causing premature motor failure, a TEFC motor will seal out most of those things. The junction box and capacitor covers are gasketed. This will not make the motor water proof, but water resistant. Another cause for premature motor failure is improperly sized wire supplying power to the motor. If the wire run is long, and the wire is too small it will cause the motor to draw excessive amps, especially on startup, causing the the internal motor start switch to arc and fail, eventually burning up the motor. Remember, on initial motor start up, the motor can draw as much as 4 times the rated motor name plate amperage for a few seconds. We recommend the motor be installed by a "qualified" licensed electrician. Another area to watch is the motor fan cover and fan. The fan is what cools the motor, if the cover and fan become clogged with debris it will not cool properly and eventually the motor will overheat and burn up.
A properly installed motor will last for years, normally motor failure is caused by an outside force, such as the power supply, belts too tight or misaligned and a burned up motor is the result of that.
This is a single phase electric motor.
Our motors are current stock, not surplus or reconditioned.
