Burr Brown Interface Terminal TM71
This compact, waterproof unit has a 42-key keyboard and permits entry of messages up to 80 characters long. A 16-character LED display-with scroll left/ scroll-right keyboard controls-allows entered data to be reviewed and edited before transmission. Displayed characters measure 0.16" high. Two 80-character buffers are provided for keyboard-generated data. The output buffer holds the message being written, reviewed, or edited, while the transmit buffer holds a prepared message ready for CPU acceptance. The double buffers allow a second message to be prepared while the first awaits transmission. Two 80-character buffers are available for CPU-generated messages. The receive buffer holds an incoming message until it can be transferred to the input buffer for display and operator action. This feature allows the operator to visually review a CPU input on the display while a second message from the CPU is received and held. Display features include CPU control of flashing, scrolling, or blanking. The keyboard can also be locked out by CPU command. Two LED indicators are independently controlled by the CPU while four LEDs indicate terminal status. In addition to data input and control keys, the keyboard includes programmable function keys. Output codes for these keys are set at the factory. The user can program the function keys to provide any sequence of ASCII characters. Custom function key definitions may be loaded into the TM71 by the host CPU or by inserting an EPROM module into the terminal. The unit communicates in serial ASCII with RS-232C/V.24 or 2OmA current loop conditioning. Baud rates range from 110 to 19,200. Up to 15 terminals can be connected on the same serial interface. Required power supply is + 5VDC ± 10 percent at 0.5A, typical, 0.65A, maximum.
